The annual NSTA National Conference on Science Education will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from March 26-29, 2025. As part of the conference, NMEA will be hosting two events to showcase the importance of marine and aquatic education and ocean literacy.

NMEA Whale of a Share-a-thon

Friday, March 28th - 2pm-4pm

We are excited to be hosting our Whale of a Share-a-Thon—an opportunity for NMEA members to share take-home resources and hands-on activities with conference participants. Visit the NMEA Whale of a Share-a-Thon in the NSTA exhibit hall!

Educators will receive classroom ready, standards-aligned resources so they and their students can learn about ocean, coastal, Earth, and climate science phenomena and issues, how they apply to them, and how they can receivefunding to addressenvironmental impacts to their community.

Making sense of deep sea phenomena
Tami Lunsford (Newark Charter School: Newark, DE)
Through hands-on investigations/activities, educators will construct explanations with evidence for how/why scientists use physical/chemical data to determine patterns that help find hydrothermal vents. Then they will analyze mission scenarios to determine the best robot technology to locate vents.

NMEA Track of Sessions

The NSTA Conference is a great time to showcase NMEA members’ work, especially activities, research, and programs that address the Ocean Literacy Principles. We are excited to highlight sessions by NMEA members related to marine and aquatic education.

Are you attending or presenting at the NSTA Annual Conference? Share your session information with us to be a part of NMEA @ NSTA! You must be an NMEA member to be considered for this track of sessions, and presenters must register for the conference in order to present.
